Rev. Dr. Cynthia Beggar

As of Sunday, Feb. 1, Rev. Dr. Cynthia B. Biggar began serving as Interim Pastor here at North Yarmouth. A semi-retired UCC minister, Rev. Cynthia served as Pastor and Teacher at Standish Congregational Church, UCC (2008-2021) and as Interim Pastor at North Parish UCC in Sanford (2022-2025). She is a graduate of Harvard Divinity School (M.Div. 2004), and was ordained at Trinitarian Congregational Church in Concord, MA, in

2008. Prior to her ordination, Rev. Cynthia was a college English professor teaching primarily at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, OH (1988- 2000). Originally from North Carolina, she attended public schools and state universities there, earning a Ph.D. in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1984 . Rev. Cynthia came to know and love Maine during vacations with her late husband, Raymond Biggar, who grew up in Saco and was a Bowdoin College alumnus. She lives in Saco with her dog Millie (Schipperke / Terrier mix).
