Weekly News for November 3,2021

Following CDC and our own guidelines at NYCC masks are again required to be worn in the church building regardless of your vaccination status.  Please keep them on for the entire time that you are in the building.  We are now holding worship service in the sanctuary with social distancing guidelines in place.  Thank you.

Sharing during Worship
I am looking for anyone (young, old in between) who would be willing to do a short ‘sharing during worship on Nov 14 about what being part of our faith family at NYCC means to you.  Please contact me asap.  Thanks, Nancy

Daylight Saving Time ends this Sunday, November 7.
Remember to turn your clocks back by one hour on Saturday, November 6 to get that extra hour of sleep!
Stewardship 2022
It’s in the mail!  In a few days you’ll receive a letter, with pledge card and return envelope enclosed from NYCC asking you to consider your financial support and your service support going into 2022. As we have shared with you on a number of occasions recently, your financial support has been incredibly faithful as we have experienced the fallout and felt the impact of a global disease. It appears we are ending the year with a bit of a surplus, however as we start doing more in the church we know that things like utilities will increase. Between faithful members’ pledges and those folks who are sharing our Sunday services from afar can we say we are indeed blessed?

Service support?…..never heard those words used to describe committee and board membership.  Many of the present members of the various committees have served longer than usual because of not being able to do any of our work in the usual manner. They need a break. If you are interested in helping please chat with Pastor Nancy, Annie G. Cindy T. or Jeanne C. (chair of the nominating comm. by default, just because that is part of the Vice Moderator’s job.) Thank you.
Thank you from Pastor Nancy!
Thank you all for a wonderful pastors appreciation Sunday. I was overwhelmed by the generosity and the fun with which everyone greeted me with lovely little gifts and cards and from a troll with a Bee hat on that we’re calling Mr. B at our house and cards with butterflies on them – you all know how much I love butterflies!  And a journal for helping me keep some mindfulness time and a lovely gift certificate for some self pampering time, a beautiful cyclamen plant, and beautiful cards with words that moved me to tears.  And thank you for your other generous gifts which I will use thoughtfully.  Thank you all for your support over these last 18 months –  it has been a crazy and challenging journey and we pray that we will continue to go through this together in good fashion and come out on the other side with a new way of dealing with life and Church.  Thank you also to the kids and for the presentation and to David for his kind words as we were waiting for the kids. It was wonderful!  Also a shout out to David for the beautiful cake!  Our Halloween party was big fun – thank you to the Faith Formation team for planning and setting up and cleaning up after.  You are all a blessing to me!  With love, Pastor Nancy

Sunday November 21st will be our pledge Sunday – you should be receiving a letter and pledge card soon.  Also that Sunday will be a hymn sing Sunday, so I am looking for hymns (one verse only) that are favorites – especially appropriate if they focus on thankfulness or what God has done for you etc. – I need these ahead of time please. Deadline for hymns is November 14th.  Also that Sunday will be an all-church potluck with fun and lots of ‘thankful’ type activities – more details coming!

Grace Street Ministry
Calling all gloves!!!!!! you all have been unbelievably generous this fall as always. Now I am hoping that we can become the ‘glove church’.  We are in desperate need of warm gloves for men and women – both knitted and other.  I have found some at Job Lots that are not too expensive in the past.  Maybe you have another source.  Thank you in advance – I would love to be able to share with both Pastor Jeff and Pastor Karen.  Thank you, Pastor Nancy
