Santa’s Workshop Fair Cookie Walk
The Santa’s Workshop Fair is fast approaching on November 20th, and now is the perfect time to break out your favorite recipes and begin baking up a storm to delight our patrons for our Carol’s Cookie Walk and Baked Goods table.  Decorated sugar cookies are always a big hit but even the simplest chocolate chip cookie is welcomed, along with seasonal breads and pies, yummy brownies and bars, and delicious jams and jellies.  These items can be dropped off  the day before or early morning at the start of the fair.  If pickup is needed, please call Sue at 831-9014 to arrange a time.  Happy baking!

What is God calling you to?
God is calling each of us to share Gods love and caring in our world.  We do this in many different ways.  Music ministry?  See David Myers-Wakeman.Caring and Worship ministry?   Perhaps you are called to be a deacon.  Social justice and action ministry?  Have you considered serving on missions?   Sharing and teaching your faith?  How about faith formation?  Are you a good reader?  Reading on Sunday morning? See Pastor Nancy.  Are you capable of overseeing the care of our church building and grounds?  Can you imagine how God wants us to use it? Perhaps serving on the trustees is where God is calling you.  Is hospitality and fellowship ministry your passion?  Or just organizing fun events?    Do you LOVE technology and/or making videos?  See Jeff Shorey about becoming part of our tech team!Do you have a new idea for ministry that isn’t mentioned?

Many folks have been serving God in current ministries for a while now and some would like a break.  In addition to the ministries mentioned already, we specifically need to fill the positions of Clerk and Vice Moderator.
Please let Pastor Nancy or current Vice moderator Jeanne Chadbourne know of your interests.

Church Cleanup Day Planned
The Trustees have set up a cleanup day for Saturday, November 13 beginning at 9:00 a.m.  We will be winterizing the church and doing yard cleanup.  Please join us with work gloves and a rake.  The more people that join us the quicker we will get everything done.  More hands make lighter work!

Pastor Appreciation

After church we have the opportunity to say “thank you” to Pastor Nancy for her ministry to NYCC. In a most unusual year, Nancy has held things together for us. We have had a few “normal” activities and we are now back in the Sanctuary for Sunday Services. Yes, we are still somewhat restricted in what and how we do “together” but Pastor Nancy has effectively led the way. This has been a hard year for all of us and an especially challenging time for the leader of our church….any church, school, business …..you get my drift. So, we say thank you on Sunday the 31st. We are putting together a table and if you wish to add to it, you may turn it in to the office or to Jeanne  and we will see that it gets to the table. If your gift is a check, you can make it out to Nancy White or Jeanne Chadbourne (YES! I will get the exact amount on the table)  Please don’t make it out to the church. (bookkeeping nightmare)

Other activities are in the making, so stay tuned for more fun stuff.
Thank you, Jeanne

Church House Keeping
OOPS !   While putting away badly needed and recently purchased paper towels and trash bags, I noticed the sinks and counters are gathering dirty dishes, glasses and silverware.  In fact the counters are quite cluttered.  We haven’t needed to be careful about this because we haven’t been using the kitchen at all. I guess folks are using it now and probably need to clean up and put away if you use anything. Huge thank you for taking care of this.  Jeanne

Lights Off / Faucets Off
A reminder as we come into heating and lighting season to please make sure that all lights including bathrooms and gathering space sconces are shut off before the last person or group leaves the building.  We also found a faucet running on hot water in one of the upstairs bathrooms.  It had been running all night!  To avoid waste and higher electric bills please take a quick look back before leaving a room. Thank you.

Community Food Pantry
Hi Folks,
Thank you for your generous donations to the shopping cart.  Jeanne delivered a full cart of goods to the pantry last week.  Our church does an awesome job supporting the pantry.  Current pantry needs include:
Paper towels                     Laundry Detergent
Toilet Paper                       Dish Soap
Tissues                                Diapers
Deodorant                         Pull-ups
Shampoo                           Baby Wipes

Please add your donation to the grocery cart in the Gathering Space.

UCC appeals for disaster Relief

Help for the Homeless
It’s Winter!! Or at least it feels like it –BRRR!

I am still going to Portland on the last Tuesdays of the month and last Sunday.  Exception this month—my Sunday will be October 24th.

Thank you all for your generous support always.  We need winter things: coats, long underwear (for men and women), hand warmers, gloves, scarves and hats.  Things should be new, gently used and clean.  We always of course need travel size toiletries and underwear (boxer briefs for men).

Thank you!  pastor Nancy  Access worship directly on our YouTube channel (subscribe to our channel while you are there) at youtube.com/c/nyccucc
