Easter Sunday Services
April 4, 2021
6:15 am A live virtual Sunrise service. Everyone is invited to go outside to see where the sun rises at your house and watch on your device.
9:00-9:20 am Breakfast sandwiches outside at church.
9:30 am Outside Easter Service. Live streamed and in person. We are planning an outdoor Easter worship for April 4th at 9:30 am. If weather doesn’t permit we will worship in the fellowship hall where we can open windows. More and more of us are fully vaccinated -yay! – that is wonderful but even so CDC is still recommending continued social distancing with masks for any gatherings in public.
In lieu of Easter flowers, we invite you to make a monetary donation to the Cumberland/North Yarmouth Community Food Pantry. This pantry serves many North Yarmouth families. Each donation goes a long way to benefit our neighbors. Please send your gift to the church office by Easter Sunday, April 4, 2021.
Food Pantry Shopping Cart
Simply because we have not been in the church for a year, our shopping cart has lacked activity! (to say the least). When Missions puts it out on Easter Sunday when we will be worshipping in the church yard, let’s make up for lost opportunities. Any items would be greatly appreciated, but any paper product, shampoo, bath soap, laundry detergent, could be the best items to bring. Good Sheppard Food Bank and government subsidies are all about food. Nonfood items are costs that are covered by folks like us. Could our shopping cart be overflowing on Easter Day? The missions Board hopes so. Thank you
The next Council Meeting will be held on Thursday, March 25 at 6:30 pm on Zoom. https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81321017944?pwd=QzkwRll0ajhuV3FXVTBPYjJJU1RJQT09
We have two special offering requests this month, one for UCC disaster relief Texas and the other is for our annual One Great Hour of Sharing offering help where there is the greatest need. Please give as you are able – mail a check to NYCC at 3 Gray Rd, North Yarmouth, ME 04097 or donate online at https://tithe.ly/give?c=1301940. Please indicate UCC disaster TX or OGHS on your donation. Thank you in advance for your consideration.

Re-Launching as a Hybrid Church
I am delighted that I will be with you at the Cumberland Association meeting on April 24th. I will be discussing how churches are planning to re-launch public worship, and how to be a hybrid church, both in-person and online. While we don’t know when we will be able to gather again, now is the time to plan ahead. Our discussion will include:
Three different ways of having in person and online worship, and the advantages and disadvantages of each. How to speak to four different groups of people who are worshippingTips on how to adapt worship to reach new peopleHow to have a month of celebrations when your church re-opens, engaging the community around you.
Rev. Paul Nickerson is a United Church of Christ pastor, who has served churches in New England, been part of a Conference Staff, and for the past 13 years has been a full-time trainer, coach and consultant for churches all over the country. Paul lives in Beverly, MA, with his wife, Rev. Dr. Marlayna Schmidt, who is an Intentional Interim Minister.

Coffee with Friends, Lent 2021
On March 8, 2021, we began our pilot distance learning book club entitled, Coffee with Friends. The topic for discussion will be personal prayer and we will be reading Fr. James Martin’s New York Times best seller, Learning to Pray: A Guide for Everyone. Regardless if you are new to personal prayer or nearly a mystic, I think you’ll find many useful insights to enhance your spiritual life.
What makes Coffee with Friends different is that instead of meeting face-to-face on a specific day, time, and location, we will be meeting “virtually” online, at a day and time of your convenience using Google Classroom. Additionally, unlike Facebook or other social media platforms, Google Classroom has the advantage of added privacy. Only those who “enroll” in the “course” have access to whatever is posted or uploaded to the class. Google Classroom can be accessed online using your computer at classroom.google.com or you can download an Android or iOS Google Classroom app for your phone.
How Coffee with Friends works is pretty simple. Each Monday beginning March 8th I will post a brief 3 to 5 minute video summarizing the week’s scheduled readings and offering a few reflection questions to get the conversation going. At your convenience you can post your thoughts, questions, insights, bemusements, wonderings to the group. Anyone enrolled can read, comment, or respond. You can also upload links to items you have found helpful or useful that you would like to share with the group in the resource section.
All that is required to enroll in Coffee with Friends is to have an active Google account and to complete an enrollment process. Both are at no cost. There are no signup fees nor will any banking information be requested. Detail instructions are attached to this email. If you have any difficulties please email me for added support or better still you might ask your school age child or grandchild who probably already are Google Classroom experts by now.
Again, the web-based address is: classroom.google.com. Search for the course entitled, “Coffee with Friends, Lent 2021.” The enrollment or access code is adkhgex. If you have difficulties enrolling yourself, please send me an email. If you know of any friend or relative who may be interested, please feel free to forward this email to them.
Thanks for considering joining us for our pilot on-line book club. I’m looking forward to learning with you. Click here for Enrollment Instruction Sheet. Mark F., Faith Formation Committee

Adding Birthdates to our Directory
We have folks in our church who enjoy sending a note on birthdays so we have added birthdates that we have on file to the directory. All the dates that are in at this point had prior approval and where from a list that we used for the newsletter. Take a look at the online directory. If you do not see your birthdate there and would like to add please request through the online app or let the office know and it will be added. Just month and day. Birth year is not required!
Online Church Directory
We have noticed that some of our members are using old directories (mail being returned to the church with address unknown). We will be printing an updated directory very soon. You can help us by letting the office know if you have a new address, email or phone number. Have you cancelled your land line and now only use your cell phone? We would like to update that information before a new directory is printed.
You can update your information yourselves by following the instructions the Instructions to sign into the directory at home.
Click on the link below and log in:
Log into the Online Member Directory at https://members.instantchurchdirectory.com/
Follow the instructions to create a log in. Once signed in you can save it to your favorites on your desk top or download the app and place it on your smart phone. When the office updates information it will automatically update yours as well. You can also update your own information. If you don’t have a picture associated with your information you can add one! Once you have made a change a request will come to the office that will need to be approved for the change to be permanent. If you make an update to your own information please send and email to the office to let Lyn know that it was you who requested the change. Thank you.
If anyone receives an unusual email that looks like it is from me and it asks for help or for you to buy gift cards for me, please know it is NOT from me. This is not something I would do over email. You can tell this by looking at the actual email address which does not even resemble mine. Please do not respond to it. Nancy

Help for the Homeless
As I write this I have just experienced the coldest day of our winter in
Portland. Thank you all for the abundance of winter duds – they are
greatly appreciated. As I am well stocked with winter gear and I know
spring is coming soon, please do not bring me anymore winter things. As we get into spring, I will let you know what the needs are. We do however
always welcome/need $5 Dunkin Donut cards and $10 cards for Hannaford, Market Basket, and Shaws or travel size toiletries such as shampoo, lotion, etc. Thank you for all your wonderful support! Pastor Nancy
