Pastor Nancy is on vacation from August 30th through September 22nd. Emergency pastoral coverage will be provided by Rev Richard Hyde at Gray CC (cell phone 202 422 5598) from Sept 7th thru the 22nd.
Chicken Pie Supper
The Chicken Pie Supper will be held on Friday, October 25. We will run the supper in the same fashion as last year with two seatings at 4:30 pm and 6:00 pm. We will be selling tickets prior to the supper.
Here is how this will work:
How will we buy our tickets?
The church will sell tickets on Sunday, October 6, from 1-3 p.m.
People can reserve tickets in 3 ways:
-in person here at the church
-by phone, 829-3644 or 829-4597
-by email. (firstname.lastname@example.org) NO EMAILS PRIOR TO OCTOBER 6 at 1 p.m. will be accepted. We will only accept emails that arrive between 1-3 p.m.
UCC Disaster Donations
$1,268.00!!! This is the amount of money that NYCC will be sending to the Bahamian Disaster Fund as of today, 09/18. Friday Lunch earmarked the money they took in last Friday and a generous gift was given through NYCC because they believed that nothing was taken off the top for administration or “other” expenses. And they are right. It all goes where the givers expect it to. We will continue to accept donations if you are so inclined. Thank-you so much. Jeanne
Parking Lot Paving
And speaking of donations we still are open for your help with our “Paving the Way ” project. If you have promised a specific amount, but haven’t sent it in, that would be appreciated, because we will be receiving bills (in fact we already have …..for the dirt work ) and we kind of need to know where we actually stand. A couple of folks have said they were intending to give, but haven’t gotten around to it. Excellent time for you to do it! Again, thank you seems so lame compared to how we really feel. Jeanne
We are also still waiting for a few folks to step up for service on a church committee. If you have questions, please ask Rev. Nancy, committee chairs, or Jeanne. The committees and Boards are making a real effort to streamline the time commitment involved, trying to avoid evening meetings, etc. We know lives are a lot different today then they were when our governance document was written years ago. Jeanne
P.S. Truth be told, we really aren’t terribly concerned about By-Laws, but the committees do need help doing the work of the church.
Opportunities to Serve
Food Pantry Needs
Paper Goods – Paper Towels, Toilet Tissue, Facial Tissues
Pet Pantry Needs
Biggest Need: Kitty Litter, if possible scoop-able.
Dry cat food in small or large bags
Dry Dog food in 17-20 pound bags (It is better to give out a larger bag as mixing two different brands of smaller dog food to make enough is hard on dogs digestive systems.
