Church Council will meet on Sunday, August 25th, after the church service. As you may recall, we did not have a meeting in July. We hope you all had a great long summer. Please try to be present or have a member of your committee present because Rev. Nancy will be leaving on vacation in September, and we will be planning for Homecoming in late September as well. The mysterious disappearance of the blue cart?????? Apparently it crumbled a couple of months ago and was last seen in the dumpster. Case closed!
PAVING THE WAY
This Week….$505.00! Getting us to the $47,700.00 mark. which includes $5,000.00 in promised gifts . So, as we continue to support this project, and without saying the same thing over and over, I am having trouble expressing gratitude on behalf of our church. But you get my drift. You’re the best! Jeanne
A Note from the Nominating Committee
It is not too early to start thinking about your interest in serving the church by becoming a member of a board or committee or an officer. If you are now serving one of these positions, are you planning on staying on?,,,,( we hope you are as it is becoming more difficult year after year to fill the slots prescribed by our By-Laws.) The boards that could use a new member or two are Trustees, Deacons, Christen Ed, and Missions, There may be officers who would appreciate a break. If you are interested, please speak to or ask questions of Rev. Nancy, Annie Graham, Cindy Tompson, or Jeanne Chadbourne. That would be the Nominating Committee.
The Church Council is in the very early stages of addressing the the need to “do” things differently than we are now as far as structure and governing the church. The By-Laws etc., have not kept up with the changes, or the way folks are doing life today. There are other more efficient forms of church governance that certainly would accommodate our busier life styles. I am looking forward to continuing this study. Any comments? Ideas? Suggestions? It would be especially helpful to hear from folks who are interested in doing their part, but can’t make a commitment to monthly meetings, or indefinite time constraints. Jeanne
