Building Chicken Pies
The February 10th CHICKEN PIE SALE is a significant fund-raiser for our church, which helps us, in turn, be able to give back to the community at large…it’s a win-win! We have many enthusiastic patrons who have already ordered our delicious chicken pies and incomparable gravy.
Now we need enthusiastic volunteers who would like to be part of a fun-loving team to create 400 chicken pies! Bring a friend along, too. Friday, February 3 make dry packets for pie dough. Saturday, February 4 at 10:00 am make pie dough.
Please block out these dates in your 2017 calendars and let Pam know if you can help:
– February 6, Monday, 1-3 pm, weigh and create dough balls (need 8-9 volunteers)
– February 7, Tuesday, 1-4 pm pick chicken (need 9-10 volunteers)
– February 9, Thursday, 9-12, roll pie bottoms (need 8 volunteers)
– February 10, Friday, 9-11 am, roll pie tops (need 8 volunteers)
11:30-2:30 pm, assemble those yummy chicken pies to be boxed and sold (need 10 volunteers)
Also during that week, we’re looking for volunteers to perform other tasks, such as building the pie boxes and cutting up frozen chicken from Sysco.
More Difficult Conversations
On Thursday, February 24th at 6:00 pm we will meet for supper and then have some structured exercises on how to have difficult conversations. In these discussions we will use current topics in our world (for which I am sure we have multiple and varied opinions) but will not focus on any NYCC related topics. Every group and church I have ever been associated with has struggled with how to do this best. For us, I will draw upon well-developed ideas to help us navigate this tricky subject. This will be the first of hopefully several evenings of fellowship and learning for all of us. Pastor Nancy
